NYC Yoga Project Partners Up with Back Yard Yoga: NYC Yoga Project partnered up with Backyard Yoga and founder Erica Golub who has created amazing curriculum and tools for teaching yoga to young people in a fun, interactive and attention grabbing way. NYC Yoga Project will uses these tools in their summertime efforts at WIN Homeless Shelters in NYC as we bring yoga to WIN Kids during July and August. Thank you Erica Golub for your contribution! NYC Yoga Project Gearing Up for a New Season: NYC Yoga Project is gearing up for a new season and has taken the initiative to give back to New York's most impacted youth: those in recovery from Heroin Addiction. NYC Yoga Project is currently working on 2 major partnerships and 2 major grants to make this happen. We plan to identify youth who want to participate in yoga routinely at local yoga studios and build that partnership between our participants and yoga studios. NYC Yoga Project Collection Donations for WIN Homeless Shelter: NYC Yoga Project is preparing for a holiday event on December 9th by collecting donations from generous donors for several females who practice yoga with NYC Yoga Project. If you are interested in making a holiday donation of gift or gift card for any of the seven (7) adult females, ages 22-37, or any of their children, aged between 3 months and 11 years old, please email Dawn at: firstname.lastname@example.org no later than December 6, 2015.

NYC Yoga Project Expands Into the 2015-2016 Season: In October 2015, NYC Yoga Project launched an expansion to several additional locations in the 2015-2016 season. Partnerships were formed with several already existing non-profits in Staten Island, Brooklyn and Manhattan. Partnerships include Staten Island LGBT Center; Police Athletic League; Seaman's Society for Children and Families; Atlas DIY; Red Hook Initiative; and Women in Need. We now have 3 volunteer yoga teacher/leaders. We are looking to generate new partnerships, new volunteer yoga teacher/leaders and board members for the Spring 2016 season. NYC Yoga Project Completes Summer 2015 Empowerment Workshop Series: On August 27, 2015, NYC Yoga Project completed the summer 2015 Empowerment Workshop Series at Atlas DIY in their new space located at 462 36th Street, #PH-B, Brooklyn, NY 11232. We look forward to fall 2015 programming beginning in October 2015!
NYC Yoga Project Showcases the Empowerment Workshop Series to Red Hook Initiative: On August 27, 2015, NYC Yoga Project showcased the signature Empowerment Workshop Series to the leadership team at Red Hook Initiative to share in the powerful experience of what is possible for the youth of Red Hook. Members of the leadership team tapped into things that are holding them back in their leadership, got out of their comfort zone and had FUN! We look forward to partnering up with Red Hook Initiative in the 2015-2016 season.
NYC Yoga Project Provides Tools to Recovery Workers to Rejuvenate: On May 29, 2015, NYC Yoga Project partnered up with the Staten Island NFP Association at Snug Harbor, Staten Island, NY and provided yoga tools to over 25 Recovery Workers. These self care tools allowed participants the opportunity to care for themselves so they can continue to be of service to others.

NYC Yoga Project Brings Yoga to Annual Police Athletic League (PAL) - Girl Talk Retreat: On May 3, 2015, NYC Yoga Project was proud to bring an Empowerment Workshop to over 60 young women participating in the Annual PAL - Girl’s Talk Retreat on Shelter Island, NY. The girls had an amazing opportunity to use the workshop as a means to reflect on their weekend and give gratitude for the friendships and experiences they made during the weekend long retreat. NYC Yoga Project is looking forward to working with these young ladies throughout the year and to meet them on the mat at next years retreat!
NYC Yoga Project Gains Momentum During the KIND Causes Campaign: During the month of April 2015, NYC Yoga Project was a contestant in the KIND Causes Campaign, sponsored by Kind Bars in a bid to win a $10,000 grant. While NYC Yoga Project did not win the competition, we gained so much more: new contacts; more awareness of who we are; potential donors, teachers and partners; as well as the opportunity to be seen on NY1. We could be happier!
Grant Awarded from Citizens Committee of NYC on Behalf of Aetna: In Spring 2015, NYC Yoga Project is the proud recipient of a $2000 grant from the Citizens Committee of NYC on behalf of Aetna. This grant will allow NYC Yoga Project to launch their premier Teacher Training to bring 25 teachers on board for the 2015-2016 season.
Chakra Workshop with Amanda Walsh and Kalisa Augustine Raise Funds for New Organization: In March 2015, Amanda Walsh and Kalisa Augustine joined forces to create a Chakra Workshop that included the use of sound bowls that were used to assist in the releasing resistance from our chakras and create energetic flow. Participants also had the opportunity to meet Mariah, a student from the NYC Yoga Project pilot program. When asked what yoga has done for her, she replied “It helped me find my purpose. I believe anything is possible and I have big dreams.” We plan to host an Acro Yoga Fundraising Workshop later the fall.
